Kolibri Flower Lab Is Blooming as Chula Vista’s Go-To Flower Shop

If you have driven down Broadway lately, you may have noticed a storefront that feels like pure joy in flower form. That is Kolibri Flower Lab, a Chula Vista flower shop that has been turning everyday blooms into art since 2019.

Located at 1680 Broadway in Chula Vista, Kolibri Flower Lab is known for its bespoke floral arrangements, bold creativity, and welcoming atmosphere. Owner Claudia Naivit Mustur draws inspiration from the expressive world of flamenco dance, and you can see that sense of movement, texture, and emotion in every design.

Kolibri started as a mobile flower shop, with Claudia and her husband serving the community from a vintage pink truck at farmers’ markets and local events. The love from Chula Vista was instant. In 2024, they opened their first storefront, and it has quickly become a neighborhood favorite.

They would have been perfect for my wedding

I got married last year, and after visiting Kolibri Flower Lab in Chula Vista, I honestly wish I had known about them sooner. Chula Vista SHARP Medical Center Now Open on H Street

0

The new Chula Vista Sharp Medical Center is now open, bringing expanded healthcare services to the South Bay community. After years of development, the modern 75,000-square-foot facility offers a wide range of care under one roof, including primary and urgent care, radiology, physical therapy, a pharmacy, and specialized departments such as cardiology and nephrology. The center was designed with patients in mind, featuring bright, open spaces, large windows, and calming artwork to create a comfortable environment.

At the open house, residents had the opportunity to tour the building, meet healthcare professionals, and learn more about the available services. The event had a strong community feel, with local vendors providing light refreshments and a Mariachi band performing. Many attendees shared how impressed they were with the size, layout, and modern design of the new offices. The facility is expected to make medical care more convenient by reducing the need for South Bay residents to travel outside the area for specialist appointments and other health services.

Big News for Chula Vista: The New Sharp Medical Center Is Finally Here

I’ve been watching the new Sharp Medical Center take shape from the very beginning, and it’s pretty amazing to see it finally open its doors. At the same time, I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic. I still miss the old Sears that used to be right here in the Chula Vista Center. So many of us have memories of shopping there over the years. Change is never easy, but this is one of those changes that truly benefits the whole community. I was also the first to share news about this new medical center with you all, so seeing it completed feels a bit personal.

The new Sharp Medical Center in Chula Vista is a major addition to health care in the South Bay. For years, many residents had to drive outside the area to see specialists or get certain medical services. Now, much of that care is available right here at home. This modern facility brings a wide range of services together under one roof, making it easier and more convenient for local families.

A First Look Inside the New Facility

The building itself is impressive. The center spans about 75,000 square feet and was years in the making. From the outside, it already stands out, but once you step inside, you really see how thoughtfully everything was designed. I attended the open house and had the chance to tour the offices, and I was genuinely impressed. The space feels open, bright, and welcoming. There are large windows that let in natural light, and the artwork throughout the building helps create a calm and relaxing environment. It does not feel cold or clinical. It feels like a place built with patients in mind.

Community members connect with healthcare staff at the new Sharp Medical Center during the open house, learning about services and exploring the modern facility.

During the open house, the community really showed up. Residents had the opportunity to speak directly with healthcare professionals and learn more about the center’s departments and services. There were light refreshments from local vendors, which gave the event a nice community feel. At one point, a local Mariachi band performed, adding energy and culture to the day. The event stayed busy, and many people I spoke with said they were impressed by how modern and comfortable the new offices looked.

While touring, I also saw spacious, well-equipped areas for physical therapy. There are services such as radiology, primary care, urgent care, and even a pharmacy on-site. That means patients can address many of their health needs in one visit, rather than driving from place to place. The urgent care section is much larger than before, which is great news for families who need quick care without the long wait times often found in emergency rooms.

More Care, Closer to Home

Another big upgrade is the on-site lab. Tests can now be processed right there, helping speed up results and making the overall experience smoother for patients. The center also includes expanded cardiology and nephrology departments, bringing more specialized care to the community.

What stood out most to me was the overall excitement and pride people felt. Residents were walking through the halls, checking out the rooms, and talking about moving their care to this location. It’s clear that this center fills a real need in Chula Vista.

This new Sharp Medical Center represents progress for our city while keeping care close to home. I’m glad I got to see it from the early planning stages to the finished building, and even more glad I could walk through it during the open house.

Now I want to hear from you. Have you visited the new location yet? Share your thoughts and experiences on Facebook so we can keep the conversation going as a community.

Future of the Bonita Horse Arena

0

The Bonita Horse Arena at Rohr Park is quietly becoming one of the most talked-about spaces in the community, even if many people have walked past it for years without giving it much thought. A proposed master plan for the park could remove the arena to make way for expanded athletic fields, and that idea has sparked a broader conversation about history, community identity, and what Bonita wants its public spaces to be.

For longtime residents, the arena represents more than just dirt and fencing. It reflects Bonita’s equestrian roots and a lifestyle that has been part of the area for decades. Supporters point out that the arena has served the community for more than 40 years and is maintained without cost to the city. Others acknowledge that while the arena hasn’t always felt active, that doesn’t necessarily mean it lacks value. In fact, some see that as an opportunity rather than a reason for removal.

The full article takes a closer look at the history of the Bonita Horse Arena, the current debate, and why this moment could be a chance not just to save a space, but to bring more fun and connection back to Bonita.

There is a new coffee spot in Chula Vista. The Coffee Machine just opened up on Third Avenue & Naples. I have been following them since they opened their first location on Palm Avenue. It is so cool to meet this young couple just making it happen out here. I went with the Mexican Mocha, which was not too sweet and delicious. They have a full coffee menu, including Matcha. Be sure to follow them on all the social media links below. You can also find them at the address here: 1223 Third Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91911
